Qualification needed:

1. A recognized medical qualification included in the first or second schedule or part-II of the third schedule (other than licentiate qualifications) to the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956. Holders of educational qualification(s) included in part-II of the third schedule also fulfilled the condition stipulated in sub section(3) of session - 13 of the Indian medical council act, 1956
2. A post-graduate degree in the concerned speciality mentioned in Part-A of Annexure-II or its equivalent qualifications.
3. At least 3 years teaching experience as Lecturer / Registrar / Demonstrator/ Resident after doing post-graduation in the concerned speciality in any recognized Medical College. 

Note-I: All Medical Teachers must possess a basic University or equivalent qualifications included in the Schedules to the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956. They should also be registered under the State Central Medical Registration Act. 

Desirable qualifications:-

1. Knowledge of customs / manners and dialects of Himachal Pradesh and suitability for appointment in the peculiar conditions prevailing in the Pradesh.
2. Publication of research papers in Index journals.
